ON THE ISSUES
I was raised to believe in the American Dream. That powerful belief that if you work hard and play by the rules you will be able to go as far as your talent and work ethic may take you. This dream is for all – no matter who you are or where your family comes from, whether your father was a scholar from Kenya or an immigrant from Ireland.
But for too many families, it is getting harder to achieve the American Dream. I’m running to change that.
We need leaders in Washington who understand the middle class and will fight for them – not just their privileged friends. When I look at Congress right now, I see too many people who are more interested in scoring points and playing political games than in getting our economy back on track and ensuring our middle class is strong. When I get to Congress, I will never put anyone ahead of our working families and making sure all have a fair shot at achieving their dreams.
